Help, I cannot log in and I am unsure how to get help. Every time I attempt to log in, I get the page that says thank you for logging in and then am redirected to the non-logged-in page. Any ideas?

This happens to me on rare ocassions too.
I find that if I simply close the browser session and go back in it works.

Granted, this may not work for you.

Working now. I tried all the suggested solutions but to no avail that day.

Perhaps you are behind a transparent ISP proxy that was not so transparent for a day.

edit: Weird, but I logged in and found myself not logged in 3 minutes later after I posted this!

Default Old login not found; can't merge old into new

I am upset. I have been participating in your Mersenne project for over a decade. It is running right now on this computer under software ver. 24.

I duly registered under the new schema and tried to merge my old account data. My old account seems not to exist!

Yet it is happily churning away as I write and sending updates to your server via ver. 24.

P.S. Maybe your forum spell-checker should be told that there is a word called "Mersenne"?

Ok, can you tell us what you have done, try to be specific. If all else fails George has magic powers.

It has been a while since I have done it. But, it went well for me.

Are you part of a team other than yourself?
So, you've set up a primenet V5 id?
You've gone to the website and logged in?
While logged in you clicked on My Account then Summary?
Does it show your account info (don't worry about the v4 stuff yet)?
You've got some sort of stats showing?
Does it show "V4 computers" under your listing of computers?
Does it show "v4-LL" or "v4-TF" under stats for the last 365?
Is there a large lump of credits under life time stats?
Did you click on either " Link my legacy PrimeNet v4.0 Account(s)" or "v4.0 Migration"?
Then are you double extra sure that you got all of the entries exactly right in the form and hit "Link this v4 account now" and not "Submit"?

Did you log out of mersenne.org, wait 1.5 hours, restarted your browser, and logged back in?

Just a small explanation for dman:

That's to make sure that the server's hourly updating has had time to take effect before you next check your reports.

Thanks for the efforts to help. Still feeling frustrated.
No team.

Yes, logged in. But I am still using the old software. I am not running the program with the new identity. So the summary totals are zero.

See, that's the thing. There is a link, "Link my legacy PrimeNet v4.0 Account(s)." When I click on it, I get taken to a new login page! I know the old account and password -- I can read them right in the Prime95 "Test / User Information" area of the menu bar. But when I try to log in with my v4 account and password, it says there is no such account.

In the past I have even found my stats online via a Google search. I know the account runs and has been running for a dozen years. I had accumulated a huge pile of stats. Now there's only "Account login '[redacted]' not found."

What entries? I have a new v5 account, and I edited the profile for it, and I can log in with it.

Waited 1.5 weeks, even. Maybe months. http://www.mersenneforum.org/images/icons/icon9.gif

Default Figured it out!

Okay, I've now linked the accounts. Here's the thing: the URL to the page to link the accounts doesn't work in Firefox 3.0.10 -- or at least not in mine with my particular Add-Ons, etc. It just brings me to a new login page.

I opened MSIE 8 and logged in and things worked.

Problem solved, but the webmaster ought to fix it so the page works with Firefox!

Thanks again, Uncwilly.
