The forum only allows you to ignore non-mods, regardless of whether they're global mods (i.e. "super mods") or regular mods limited to specific forums. I'm not sure, however, if blocks put in place *before* someone is made a mod still stay in place when they're granted mod privileges. It would depend on whether the vBulletin software bothers to check for any ignore statuses when granting mod privileges to a user.

Go to User CP > Edit Options. Uncheck Show Avatar. (Of course my Avatar has caused you to put me also on ignore list?!)

Or, if you use Firefox, install Adblock Plus and block any avatars, images, or ads that annoy you, while leaving the rest visible.
