Question Question about triming [code] blocks

If a message with a large [code] block is edited to trim the size of the block, does that remove the block from the message DB, or does the entire message have to be deleted?

(I'm working on figuring out the best way to trim some of the messages in our forum....)

Compressed attachments are best. Anything that is not an attachment is in the database.

But, I think what schickel was asking is, if you retroactively delete a large amount of text from an already-existing post, does it actually get deleted from the database? Or does it, indeed, get left in place because the DB is still storing it in the edit log?

The posts get cleaned up when the database tables are optimized, which happens every now and then.
