Default Banned user on online users list?

I spotted user klmn159, whose colour shows he is banned, on the online users list. What happened here?

They can read the forum, but they can't post.

The info page shows no reason for his ban. He has no postings left, so I'd guess he was a spammer.

I also notice that a lot of recently registered users have usernames in the pattern aaaaXXX where aaaa is 4 consecutive letters and XXX is 3 digits. Quite a few of them have been banned. Do you think they are working as a team?

It's possible that they're spambot registrations.

Interestingly, the more I visit specialized forums, like Patriot memory forum, memtest forums (don't ask, just trying to tune my new Phenom box), the more I find vBulletin, and they are not afraid to post "Members lists". But I am sure Mike has good reasons for hiding it, as well as spambot protection.

...Errhm, I meant Gerbils and ze Snake.

P.S. Just went to a pretty random thread in Patriot - and the same spambot users do the same damage there!

...and they post some commercial crap, like hair straighteners. Gaah!
Ban the crap out of them, Gerbils!

Apart from those spammers, there seem to be quite a few other users without a username pattern getting banned. Could they be accomplices?

Personally, I think the spammers are being stupid by choosing similar usernames. Now a lot have been banned, the rest are almost certain to be spammers too.
