I think you're misapplying his rule of thumb. His idea is that if a t60 can be done in less time than 1/11th the expected GNFS time, the t60 is worth doing.

We can break it down digit by digit: for instance, after t55 is done t57 is a t55 worth of 260M curves. t58 is 2t55 worth of 260M curves = half a t60, etc.

The nth digit of work has 1/n chance to find a factor. t55 to t60 is roughly 5/55, which is where the 1/11 comes from.

By these estimates posted, a full t60 would take about 1850/2928*42000 = 26.5K thread hours, which is rather more than the 9K thread hours which is 1/11th of the GNFS. So we should definitely not be doing a full t60. The question then becomes how much of that t60, and simply getting as many curves as possible for the 9K thread hours seems reasonable to me, even if it's a misapplication of the rule of thumb. Unless you have any better ideas? I barely qualify as literate in this arena, far from expert.

I like no more than 14k curves at 260M. That's 1/3rd of a t60, which gets us to about t57.

Okay, I'm getting bored. I've done 3680 total curves of 14K target at 260e6. unconnected, have you completed a t55?

Perhaps yoyo may be interested in queuing 10,000 curves @ 26e7.

We currently need 13.5K curves at 110e6 to complete t55, and 8.4K at 260e6 to complete the 14K discussed above. I'm still running the 260e6 curves here, though only on one i7-2600k.

Maybe if yoyo@home did, say... 15K@260e6?

The C156 splits as a P38*C119, has anyone else made it this far yet or shall I just let the NFS on the C119 run?
