At school he was my "intellectual/musico" rival.
For better or worse, he devoted his life to playing the blues (bass guitar).

~15 years ago I went to a pub to see him with his band in Norwich.
We hadn't met met in ages, and he excused himself from immediate conversation on the understandable pretext that he was psyching himself up (or down?) for the gig.
No probs. I went to the jukebox and put on
Sexual Healing
I glanced to see his reaction.
He was leaning agaist the wall, eyes closed, and playing the bassline as if in heaven.

Prefer the studio version though.

Just spent £180 in HMV on Beatles, Dire Straits and Pink Floyd CDs. Oops.
Most of my old LPs/CDs got damaged somehow.
