Default Run on Dual OS

I am running Windows XP and Ubuntu Linux and I want to be able to run Prime 95 from both, so that in either OS it runs the same test. I've heard it can be done but I can't find how on the new website. Thanks, Long time with GIMPS, first time on the forums.

Simply extract the latest version of mprime into your already-existing Prime95 folder, and then run it from inside Linux. It will pick up right where Prime95 left off under Windows, and vice versa.

No need to format the partition with FAT32?

If you have WinXP installed on NTFS partition than it will work under Ubuntu depending on the version of your distribution... personally I would set up another partition using FAT32 filesystem - for Prime95/mprime it can be as small as 1GB or even less.

Oh, well, I forgot about that--I was thinking of Ubuntu (which is what both I and the OP use), which for the last few versions has had full read/write support for both NTFS and FAT32. (I presume that the OP is not using a dinosaurically-ancient version of Ubuntu. )

i got mprime extracted to the right place. it formed it's own mprime folder within my prime95 folder. how do i make sure they are testing the same exponent? if that dosen't work can prime 95 simply be run through Wine?

Place mprime in the same directory that prime95.exe is in, so they will use the same files.
