Angry memory Full

I was tring to download an update to another programme and it was slow and hung for about an hour.
I did a CTL Alt Delete and found that the new version of prime 95 was taking 99cpus and my computers CPU usage was at 100% i have only got it set it to 8 mb
when I stopped Prime95 the download immediatly finished.
so it looks like it is trying to take over the computer.
how do I uninstall it as it does not show in the all programmes or in the Add remove programmes.

The 100 % CPU is normal : Prime95 is supposed to keep your CPU fully occupied, since it works at the lowest priority possible it should not interfere with other programs. The 8MB memory setting has nothing to do with the CPU usage.
The behaviour of the download program is strange. It seems to open a low priority thread and therefore does not make any progress. You could just have stopped Prime95 (Menu "Test / Stop".)

To uninstall this BETA version of Prime95.
Open the Prime95 window
Go to the "Options" menu
uncheck "Start at Bootup" or "Start at Logon" if you have Vista
Go to the "Advanced" menu
Click on "Quit GIMPS"
(If asked unreserve all your assigned work")
Now you just delete the Prime95 directory.

If your machine was doing a "P-1" test, that might be the problem. That is not what most machines run most of the time. Prime95 normally has no noticable impact. The CPU usage at 100% with Prime95 at 99% is normal. If you were to (for example) have Excel recalculate a very, very complex spreadsheet, you would see the 100% stay, but the amount to Prime95 may drop down to 5%. If you have you virus software do a complete scan of your computer, Prime95's % will drop. I burn DVD's with Prime95 running all of the time with no problem.
