Default Invalid int value/precision 6144

Hello,

I'm running V5 prime95 on a Windows XP Pro x64 system (Q6700 with 8 GB of RAM). I'm running stage 1 and 2 work right now. I set my memory via the interface as 6144 MB.

My swap / page space (pre-assigned) is 16 GB (so 8 GB RAM, 16 GB page space).

The communications log shows:

[Comm thread Nov 1 05:20] Exchanging program options with server

[Comm thread Nov 1 05:20] Visit http://mersenneforum.org for help.
[Comm thread Nov 1 05:20] Will try contacting server again in 15 minutes.

Why is 6144 an invalid memory size on an 8192 MB RAM system?

Yes, I'm using the 64 bit version of Prime95. Yes, I know the memory only helps during stage 1 & 2 and that is what I'm using right now.

Bert.

P.S. From time to time Prime95 is getting a win32 error. I don't remember any specifics.

P.S.S. In Worker #4 I'm getting memory errors:

This is a known bug with the v25,7 version of Prime95 (still a BETA version.) You must limit the memory available to P-1 stage 2 (not stage1) to 1703 MB. George Woltman is currently on holidays and will come back in 2 or 3 weeks. He will be very busy with forced migration issues, then he will resume debugging v25 (I hope).

Is this memory limit also true for the 64-bit version? I'd expect different memory models / bugs between a 32-bit and 64-bit version.

Just FYI: My worker #3 stopped as being out of memory, but did say it had 4,452 MB of memory.
