So how do I create a .add file? Right clicking, then going to New and then Text Document evidently doesn't work.

When saving the file, put "worktodo.add" in quotes when typing it into Notepad's Save File box. The quotes tell Notepad to take your filename literally, and not add a .txt to the end of it.

Just change the extension in explorer. If you do not see the extensions in explorer, go to the control panel "folder options" or in explorer go to the Tools menus, "Folder options", "View" tab, uncheck "Hide the extension for the known types". Microsoft security recommands that that option always be unchecked : the extensions should always be visible, Microsoft marketting always wins.

Alternatively in Notepad use "File / Save As" to save as '"worktodo.add" with the quotes.

Or much easier :open a command prompt window and issu the command "rename worktodo.add.txt worktodo.add", or create an empty worktodo.add file with "echo > wortodo.add" or "copy con woktodo.add" enter your lines and finish with [ctrl]z or ...

(If you use Vista you will have to search a bit to obtain the same effect...)

Ok, that does absorb it into worktodo.txt, which then reads:

[Worker #1]
Test=(key),46441139,68,1
Test=100000039,75,1

[Worker #2]
DoubleCheck=(key),23027591,67,1

Unfortunately, doing a manual communication with the server (while sending new completion dates) then causes any trace of M100,000,039 to disappear from both the client and worktodo.txt

Default 365 Results report could get VERY long

I have 2 slow PCs doing TF.
With the new convention of 1 bit per assignment even my slowest PC (PIII 866) is completing one 61 bit TF every 2 minutes ... yes, that is 30 per hour or 720 per day or 262,800 in a year (YIKES!! that will be one interesting Results report.

There are several "Exclude" options but only AFTER the page is displayed.

Move them over to the LMH in the 100M digit range, it would make the list shorter. You can have them take numbers up a couple of bits.

Have you checked your "Days of work to Queue" under Options/Preference? Put a number high enough that your test on your first worker will finish with plenty of time to spare.

Thanks, that seems to have done it, although I did get a warning...

"WARNING: Estimated completion date is more than one year away. The exponent may be reassigned to another user after one year."

But that shouldn't happen unless another user specifically requests it, given that the leading edge is many years away from 100M.

Default Curious of formula for points for TF to low limits

Since I have been getting 61 bit TF assignments for the last few days in the 300M range I have found about 50 factors and have been awarded credits for "most" of them. However, the formula seems to give inconsistent credit.

For example factors ranging from
2.97E17 to 5.54E17 = .0000 points
2.92E17 to 1.03E18 = .0001 points
5.88E17 to 1.14E18 = .0002 points
6.69E17 to 1.13E18 = .0003 points
. . . .
1.29E18 to 2.03E18 = .0008 points

Note the overlaps

I guess I had assumed that since v5 was handing out assignments including TF for numbers all the way up to 1B that it had taken over the tracking for LMH as well since it now covers the ranges they were in.

If that is not the case: does LMH work get credit in the Primenet standings?

I understand the reasoning for handing out TF in smaller chunks for smaller PCs; my 866 was taking almost 2 weeks to factor 50M to 69 bits ... but maybe it could have a lower limit of assigment duration of. Two minutes is too short even for the most impatient.

I thought that only happened after 60 days of not reporting in.
