He came off as too polished, she as too naive. Unfortunately her naivete worked more against her than his polish against him. Although I haven't decided yet whom I will vote for, I was hoping that she could debate better than she had. I love the argument "mankind doesn't cause global warming, but we should do something about it". If the former is true, then how can mankind affect the latter? Biden struck home on McCain more than once when referring to his unending tax cuts for the wealthy (although he beat the Exxon example to death). She could have beaten the Democrats up on the sub-prime mortgage disaster since it originated with bad presidential policy by Carter and Clinton, but as Republicans were complicit I suppose she didn't want to take that route. Biden also struck home on the $5000 tax credit for health insurance. It would cost more money than it would save (for people who don't have insurance to begin with).

BTW, I got bored after about 45 minutes, so I stopped watching. I got tired of pointing out all of the inconsistencies (and misleading statements or outright lies) to my wife.

I thought it was a wash. Probably changed very few votes.

Why do we have seven choices in a debate between two?

Why not?

There are multiple parties that could benefit (win), not just the two that stood in front of the cameras.

Restrict your vote to the 2 conventional choices if you don't like any of the others.

I thought the moderator had the poorest performance. Sometimes asking two questions, sometimes forgetting completely the structure of the debate (90 seconds response for each, followed by 2 minutes each of rebuttal). The debate was practically a wash, but very poor job of moderating, I thought.

Thanks. Maybe one of the tv networks will at least win with the expected event viewership.

Palin last night sounded like she was reading from "Republican Fantasy" cue cards, the whole spiel sounded kinda like this to me:

"Jawwn McCain ... he's a reformist maverick, a viral agent of change who will fight for America, just like he fought to keep his properties in Arizona from being foreclosed on. Democrats want to raise your taxes, surrender to the Sunny and Shitty Islamist factions in Iraq and Aff-gannistan, they're not fighters like Jawwn McCain is. I know Jawwn McCain from my several conversations with him, and let me tell you, we both will fight to keep America strong ... Democrats will make America, the greatest nation on Earth, weak ... they want to ship millions of jobs overseas by raising taxes and imposing burdensome regulations on businesses ... as the great maverick reformist fighting President Ronald Reagan used to say, 'to build a perfect American freedom omelet, you have to fight to trickle down some deregulated free-market wealth eggs every day'. Democrats want to sell your children into slavery with the Taliban, just like they did under Jimmy Carter ... they'll raise your taxes and increase the deficit by making the government bigger ... whereas Jawwn McCain and I will use his maverick reformist zeal and my executive experience to fight for smaller government and lower taxes - we'll defeat that Federal Deficit, just like maverick Jawwn McCain fought and defeated the Communist North Vietnamese. Gawwd bless the United States of Alaska, and Gawwd bless the parents of the blessed children who fight for special needs every day, just like Jawwn McCain and I fought against the pork-barrel Bridge to Nowhere. Democrats - Gawwd bless 'em - would put a Bridge to Nowhere in every inner city America, and would pay foreign terrorists to build it while taking guns away from defenseless Americans, Gawwd bless their dear little misguided hearts."
