Default Formatting HDD.

Hi,

I have an example question. I'm doing HDD format once a month or something. When I format my HDD I have to start work all over again? Or I can log in after formatting using my ID and password and the work will continue? In the other words - if I have any chances to find the prime doing often formats when the single test takes approximately 3 years?

Thanks for help,
mat

To continue your work, you'll need to copy your GIMPS folder to somewhere safe (i.e. that's not going to be reformatted) each time you reformat, then once you've completed the reformat, copy it back to your hard drive and run Prime95 from there. This is because there are various files in Prime95's folder that save your progress--without them, your computer wouldn't even have any idea of which exponent it was working on. So, hence you must back up the Prime95 folder in order for your test progress to be saved.

Thanks for help! I will do backups then. I tought that easy copy cannot work correctly after format without registry entries. Once more thanks!

Greetings,
mat
