Prime95 NOT Saving!!!

I am running two copies of Prime95, affinity set to Core 0 and Core 1, respectively. I am using Windows Vista Home Premium. I have already followed the advice of moving Prime95 from Program Files to the desktop in a new folder I created (cut, paste). Earlier, when I paused the p-1 stage of factoring, it restarted the entire factoring from 14.13 percent, 4.1 percent on the other core (after I chose to resume calculation). Just a few minutes ago, I needed to restart my computer--- after each core had already reached stage 2 p-1. After rebooting, Prime95 "kindly" informs me it is STARTING P-1 factoring!! What gives? Why will it not save? I have never had trouble with this computer on my desktop and the fact that this has happened twice now- two full days of work + is rather discouraging. What do I need to do to fix the problem? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Edit: I was trying to brainstorm reasons for this...at one point I tried to open the up the results. folder but it could "not find the file path." The next time I tried to open it, it did. Furthermore, this file is opening in word 2007, maybe this confuses the program trying to save it? I cannot see this being the case, but I am just trying to throw out suggestions in a very frustrated manner. The results file does not even acknowledge that p-1 factoring has taken place, the only thing it says is that my computer passes its original code test (when you first download it and run it).

Are you sure that Prime95 is being run from the "new" copy on the desktop, or is it possibly still being run from the old copy in Program Files? If you had Prime95 in your startup folder from before, then you'll need to edit the Startup shortcut so that it points to the Prime95 on your desktop, not the "old" one in Program Files.

If I recall correctly, you should not use the desktop either. Make prime folder/directory at the root or under your user area.

Well, even though on the desktop it is still under my user in its file path. Oddly, it now seems to be saving (after rebooting the computer). VERY weird. Perhaps just one of Vista's quirks. Stage 2 on P-1 is now commencing very nicely.

Why not use the Desktop ? (Of course there are two desktops : one for all users and one for ech user individually, but when you just save to the desktop it is the individual desktop that is written to.)

OK I see your mistake : indeed services are prevented to "interact with the desktop" unless they are run with a user credentials, that desktop is your screen : services are prevented from displaying data on your screen.

The desktop I spoke of is just a directory containing the static objects you see on your screen. When you have the quickstart menu enabled, by default there is an icon "show the desktop", it will minimize all applications and leave only the static objects.

Creating a directory on your desktop to contain the files needed to run an application has nothing to do with creating a service that needs to output data on your screen, i.e. "interact with your desktop". (I hope I got i.e. right...)

I know this is confusing, I did not chose the terminology.
