Well, we just got a slick new laptop. It has a 2.0 GHz "Core 2" processor, two hard drives with a total of 230 Gb, and 2 Gb of RAM. However, it uses Windows Vista, and Prime95 won't run on it. Does anyone know how to fix this?
Any help would be appreciated. Edit: It seems that I accidentally download the 64-bit version. Oops! Last fiddled with by ixfd64 on 2008-08-16 at 20:46 |

I did get Prime95 to run, but I happen to have another problem.
I enabled "No Icon" in the Options menu, and whenever I hope the Prime95 window, it closes again. How do I fix this? |

OK, Prime95 is working properly now. I have no idea why it was acting up earlier. However, I do have yet another problem.
I tried to disable the "Read-only" attribute on the "Prime95" folder, and I was told that I needed administrator access, which I have. Windows appeared to have gone through with the operation, but when I checked, the "Read-only" attribute was still set. Am I doing something wrong? ---- By the way, I made a rather awkward typo in my previous post. The last sentence should be: Quote:

But with Vista you must not install a program that needs to write some files in its installation directory in a subdirectory of "\Program Files". You could try specifying the path to the ini and data files instead via the command line argument : "-Wdirectory" that tells prime95 (v24 at least) to find all its files in a different directory than the executable. The official Microsoft alternative is to have the data files (and even the program) in the "\Program Data" directory. The easiest alternative is to install the program in a subdirectory of your Documents folder. Jacob |
