Just wondering. edit: I don't intend to reserve either k, but I just want to see how the system works around here. Last fiddled with by MooooMoo on 2008-09-10 at 08:16 |

Good questions. No, there is no file for n>1M for any k's that we are working on. Feel free to reserve any k for any range. If you sieve it, report it however you'd like. If you work on any k=300-400 for any n-range, I'd still suggest reporting it in this thread, regardless of how you report any top-5000 prime. Of course if you use our sieved file for searching, we ask that you report it as PrimeSearch. Since Karsten keeps the k=300-2000 page up to date, he'll be most likely to look in this thread for info. on any k=300-400. The same would apply to k=400-1001. It would be most visible to Karsten and us if you used our drive 1 thread to reserve those. At the opposite end of the spectrum, we are in the process of a huge sieve for k=1003-2000 for n=50K-500K. (Just started; currently at p=~3G) This will not step on anyone's reservations as we will be starting at n=50K on all k-values to fill in the mess left behind by Benson and effectively double-checking some k's already searched at the low n-levels. It will be a very long time before we would hit the top-5000 range in that area. This will be a chance for everyone to blow through n-ranges quickly and find many small primes if they'd like to. Right now is just sieving. We'll have a public discussion about how to divide up the k's, n-ranges, etc. into different team drives close to when sieving is done. As Gary already said--welcome to NPLB, and I hope you find some nice juicy primes on your k!

k=311, 317, 337 - tested till n=1M
Releasing k=317, and continuing with the 311 and 337 until I find a prime for each of those "k". |

Bruce is now up to P=24.65T for sieving on this drive. He will complete sieving up to P=26T a little later on. Files are now available to that sieve depth. This is a substaintial improvement on the previous sieve depth of P=14T. The # of candidates has been revised.
I have also posted files for n=600K-620K for all unreserved k's so that people can get started more quickly. When you reserve a k, just post it here like you would normally and we'll send you the rest of the file(s). For existing reservations, I have sent everyone the more deeply sieved files to speed up testing. Gary |
