It is still not working. I start from a fresh 'install' of mprime. I go through the setup steps, put in my username/password when prompted (the one i created on the v5 web page). On the web-page i have selected to use the LMH trial factoring work preference. When prompted what work type to use i select "whatever makes sense" (I've also tried selecting "trial factoring"). mprime then contacts the server and says the following:
Code:
Your choice: [Main thread May 1 19:13] Starting worker thread. [Work thread May 1 19:13] Work thread starting [Work thread May 1 19:13] No work to do at the present time. Waiting. I'm so lost now. Can someone give step by step instructions on how to do this? |

Make sure UseV4=0 appears before the [PrimeNet] section.
Sorry for not making that clear. |

Its giving me trial factoring work to do now, in the 69M range. Is there any way I can get work in the higher ranges (> 100M ), because i only have a 32-bit processor and the factoring in the 69M range is at 66+ bits already.

1/3 of the uncharted Mp divide by (2kp+1) where k<150. ... well, 6% divide simply by (2p+1). It's not even funny to send these out and load them back in the database. But look http://v5www.mersenne.org/report_recent_cleared/
Maybe these could be removed on the database level all the way to 1B? It would save an unbelievable amount of network traffic (or your valuable loading time). PL-SQL, anyone? just a suggestion... |

you've already told me that. there is no "factoring to low limits" option, only the LMH option (which S485122 confirmed as being the correct option to choose) and i have selected TF-LMH - trial factoring LMH (screen for not-prime, assigned as factoring) as the default work type on my account (peterzal). If i set a worktype of "2 - trial factoring" in the client i get assignments in the 69M range for trial factoring (this looks to me like LMH work, but at low M's). If i select "0 do whatever makes sense" in the client it gives me double checks. So maybe my client is not correctly linking to my v5 preferences ? Here are the files that are created by the client as part of the setup procedure (maybe this will help somehow)
Code:

one more thing, i promise :). Currently all my returned results get credited to ANONYMOUS. how can i give credit to my username (peterzal) ? I've changed all the fields that point to ANONYMOUS in the prime.txt and local.txt files but it didnt work.

I think you need to check them out under your login. If you checked them out without logging in then anonymous gets credit for them upon return. I could be wrong, though.
