Do you guys think that after the rally PrimeSearch will be in top 3 in terms of primes found?

i think not!
there have to be found about 40 primes to be on place 3 (right above TPS then).
i think we can make one place up the ladder from #6 to #5!

No. Do you really think we can get 40 primes in 24 hours? I mean, I'd love to, but I doubt we will.

We only need 21 primes not 40! Don't forget that each prime we find TPS and PrimeGrid lose one each.

Oh, right.
So, assuming they don't find any in the time, to tie Les GeneFermiers for spot 5 we need 15 primes, to beat PrimeGrid for slot 4 we need 17 primes, and to beat TPS for slot 3 we need 19.
I recall on a previous rally we got 8 primes, but I don't know how much power we'll have today vs. that day.

Due to a strange affinity problem between LLR and Prime95, last night (must've started that evening or afternoon, actually) System Idle Process stole half of a core, 8 CPU hours, from LLR.

Carlos, this time it's MY turn to say WRONG!

The two projects share the n=333333 TPS Riesel primes so they only lose 1/2 prime each time we find a prime. Hence we must find 2/3rds of the difference between us to move ahead of them.

The current situation at ~6:15 PM GMT on March 8th is:
TPS 170 primes
PrimeGrid 167 primes
Les GeneFermers 150 primes
PrimeSearch 138 primes

To pass TPS, we need (170-138)*2/3=21-1/3rd rounded up to 22 primes.
To pass PrimeGrid, we need (167-138)*2/3=19-1/3rd rounded up to 20 primes.
Of course Les GeneFermers is easy, we simply need the difference+1 to overtake them, i.e. 150-138+1=13 primes. But all of their primes are small; from 100.4K-106K digits. They will soon be all gone too after the TPS primes drop off.

The calculations are easy because none of those projects is adding primes above our current test limit unless some fluky thing comes up.

I realize this is close to what you originally stated but the number everyone used as a base was way off. Someone said we needed 40 primes. Even when that statement was made, we were only 34-35 primes behind TPS.

30 minutes before the rally starts...I've got both of my cores switched over to IronBits' port 5000 LLRnet server now.

Well, I've just brought two Pentium 3's to the fun: one 550Mhz and the other 1Ghz. Meanwhile my Core 2 Duo has been crunching just fine on both cores.

Someone going to email me some k/n pairs for port 5000?
BlisteringSheep just showed up and his name is scrolling and scrolling by on the console.
He just took over 600 lines out of knpairs.txt in less than 3 minutes.

Port 5000 has 47007 lines
File size of 517,090
first pair 349 353259
last pair 395 400000

Ah, good timing. I just got back on after a couple of hours. Let me do a little analysis. He may only have 6 cores that he put a 100-test cache in each. What I'll do is analyze the n-rate per minute that I am receiving. It's been n=~50 every 6 mins. or n=~8 per min. Even at double that rate, you'll have enough.

Sheep, if you see this, can you let us know exactly what you just brought to the rally?

I'll get back with you in 5-10 mins.

Edit: Sheep, you can ignore this request.
