I guess I should have pointed out that after doing ipconfig/flush on a machine, I also had to stop the client and restart it. Or visa-versa, stop the client, type the flush, restart the client. Could be LLRNET having the problem. Does anyone know how long LLRNET pauses in between tries of communication with a server? Next time I will wait to see if LLRNET restarts itself after a reasonable time.

But PRPNet also hung. Had to stop and restart it also.

The actual solution is to get rid of no-ip all together. I had this problem on some BOINC projects a while back. They also had no-ip, and after a while lost a considerable numbers of crunchers.

My next stop is to see if I can get Willie/Ware to stop caching the DNS.

Here ya go, you can disable it, with no ill affects because it will still use your ISP DNS

Flush the cache - run the command ipconfig /flushdns

View the cache - run the command ipconfig /displaydns

Disable DNS cache - run the command services.msc.
On the ensuing table, change "DNS Client" properties to "disabled".

Thanks David. Thats what I found also. I'll try it on one machine to see what happens the next time. Still need to find out what is hanging, Willie/Ware or LLRNet. This will give us a hint. The llrconfig file states that the client sleeps for 1 minute between tries so with DNS caching off, it should work.

David, I've noticed that all the G4000 results files seem to have been copied to http://nplb.ironbits.net/results/. Is this intentional, or possibly the result or a script that forgot to clean up after itself?

I'll get busy here tonight or tomorrow matching up the sieve file with what remains on k=341 and posting the appropriate status in the individual-k drive. I may search it up to a nice round n=900K myself to make it easier for the status and for someone else to start on in the future.

One option: You could load what remains on k=341 into my port G8000 that you set up. As we discussed by PM, we are intending that port for the 6k mini-drive in the individual-k effort but that's low priority and can start whenever we feel like it. We could just start it sometime after k=341 is done.

As for that 6k mini-drive effort that you probably saw discussed in the individual-k drive, please don't take any extra time making a separate page for the effort. I don't know if you set up a page for the individual-k drive. If you did, when the mini-drive starts, just handle it like it was one person searching the 6 k's. In other words, don't spend any extra time doing anything for the mini-drive.

I had talked about starting that mini-drive in late Jan. but with everything that's going on, we'll likely delay that until later in Feb. or even March.
