Anon and David,

This creates a problem for us because we really need to get this filled in and if we load it into the server, I don't want to wait until we're done with 470-490 to do it. I also don't think there is enough interest in manual reservations that people will quickly reserve them. (It's about 7-10 days before I'll be done with my current manual reservations and could start on them.)

IMHO, what makes it important to get this filled in is that there are no known primes in this range unlike most of the n-ranges for k=300-400. It's going to be very easy for someone else to 'pick off' a prime in this range before we find it if we don't make it a priority.

An option that might be easy would be to set up a temporary server just for the range of n=425K-437K only. I'd then move all my port 5000 testers over to that. Today, I dropped back from 7 to 4 cores on it since we passed the missing n=372.8K-400K pairs but I'll increase it back to at least 6 cores to get this new range processed quickly.

Another option might be for me to stop all of my LLRnet port 5000 testers and process this range manually on 6 cores. But my machines are only non-overclocked 2.66 Ghz P4's and so would take me over 2 weeks. It's better if it is a distributed effort so hopefully we could get it done in about a week. But if people think that is too much of a hassle, I'll take the entire range and start on it early Weds. afternoon.

Okay, how does port 8000 sound? (picked it out of the blue) I'll send you the knpairs when I send you the ones for the upcoming Sierp. base 4 server shortly.

To all NPLB searchers,

When David (IronBits) states that he has everything set up for a temporary port 8000 server and loaded the pairs sent to him by Anon, I'd like to request that people currently working on the port 5000 server (and anyone else who would like to help) work on the port 8000 server instead until we run it dry. This was help us quickly fill in the range of n=425K-437K.

The name of the new port 8000 server is nplb.ironbits.net, which is slightly different than the name of the port 5000 server.

After I see that David has everything set up, I'll switch my port 5000 machines over to port 8000.

Anon, if you haven't already done it, I'll add the info. to our LLRnet servers page and remove it when we run it dry.

Thanks for taking the time to set up a temp. server David!

Gary

No problem, glad to be of some help.

crus.ironbits.net port 4
nplb.ironbits.net port 8000

I can also setup some web pages where you guys can run your stats if you like.
Just let me know the particulars, send it to me in an email, and I'll do my best to set it up the way you like it.

Great!

BTW: one core added to port 8000. I'm planning to keep this core on port 8000 until we run it dry.

P.S.: I noticed that on the CRUS info page, it says "Sierpinski/Riesel Base 5 Project". Would you mind changing that to "Conjectures 'R Us Project"? (since first of all, none of our servers are doing base 5, and second, we want to avoid confusion with the separate, and unaffiliated, Sierpinski/Riesel Base 5 project.)
