Saturday night date with lunar eclipse -
http://news.yahoo.com/s/afp/20070301...n_070301122122 Star gazers in Europe, the Middle East and Africa will have a front-and-center view of the eclipse in a late-night sky, with the zenith occurring at 23:21 GMT. On the east coast of North America, the Moon will already be eclipsed when it rises at around sunset, while in Asia early risers will get a glimpse of the lunar blackout as the Moon sets. Mally |

As a reminder,
this is the best lunar eclips until 2029. Before that one, the intermediate ones will be too low in the sky for Europe. So enjoy :) |

And for Austria it seems that the sky will be too cloudy on saturday.

Why not wait until the 19/3-2007 where the moon will be dark all night
![]() Well, I will be in a summerhouse all weekend far away form any magor lightsourcs, but 22:40 UT might be at bit late - this of course is highly depending on the quantity af redwhine left in the bottle ![]() -Eivind Last fiddled with by Eivind on 2007-03-02 at 11:12 |

I've got a good view here (S.E. England) and the forecast is good. I have my digital camera ready to take stills about 20 secs apart and I have software to turn them into an avi.
![]() It's just a shame I have no way of tracking the moon. Last fiddled with by Flatlander on 2007-03-03 at 19:05 |

I can fix the position with the tripod.
The zoom is playing up so the field of view will be quite large. I will start with the moon on the left and hope the moon performs for me before it gets out of shot on the right. It's all a bit 'Heath-Robinson'. I will set it 2048x1536 (it's highest res.) and worry about resizing afterwards. It's just a 3 magapixel Canon A70 connected to the PC with a long USB cable. I don't think I'll see much detail of the moon but it should catch the colour changes. |
