On top of everything else, if no-one did anything, the problem would eventually solve itself so while it's annoying enough that some people act, it's not a crisis. An assignment within some reasonable range of the trailing edge will get expired when there's no contact for 60 days regardless of assignment type. So even if the assignments weren't being selectively poached, in under a month from now they'd all expire anyway and get reassigned.

This is a very big project, it's been going for a long time and will probably go on for much longer, one doesn't need to try to just fast forward to the end. Slow down and relax.

It appears that that person is working from the lower exponents upward. If someone else (such as you) worked from the higher downward, or found other such exponents that are being tied up with no work being done on them, that could help clear this problem until the the powers that be fix the assignments rules WRT P-1.
I have started a P-1 test of M104058113, which is the largest exponent that user has.

Ben Delo beat me to the PRP test, despite I had it my worktodo.txt file. But at least it will get some progress now.

Understand that you have reversed your previous statement. Someone else may complete the task before you or just after you. That is the danger of poaching like this. Especially if that goes against previous statements.

Edit: And it happened. 2 overlapping P-1 results within hours of each other. Thanks Chief!

Yes, I see what you mean - Team_Inspector also completed the same P-1 test approximately 8 hours after me. A lesson learned - fortunately only a few electrons were disturbed, as it was quick to do.

I tend to agree with your statement that the "powers that be" need to fix the P-1 assignment rules. That said, if the exponent would have expired 60 days from when it was last updated, then slandrum has a valid point too. But it does seem a bit wrong to let someone have 25 or so P-1 assignments when they only completed 12 in the last year. But it would be quite a task to program the server for all the possible scenarios that are not ideal.

We work with what we've been ***given***. And we use this forum to, amongst other things, coordinate "off-the-books" work.

There's a saying... Lead. Follow. Or get out of the way.

Please choose what fits best for all concerned...

What might be quick and easy for you or someone running gpuOwl might me much more of a commitment for someone running an older CPU. They might have started days before you. When you declare your intentions, stick to them or state that you have changed you mind. It would not surprise me to see the next lower one to get completed in the next day or so.

And you did the next lower one without declaring that you would.
There is a thread I pointed to that you can post your intentions to. You don't play with others do you?

Hoarding is one of the things that magpies do (gathering things up and keeping them regardless of need or use); hording (assembling themselves into a horde) is what lemmings do on their way to the cliff.
