Unknown Intel

I have an Intel 4960X on an Asus Rampage Extreme Black Edition Motherboard and I am running Windows 8.1 For some reason, when I start Prime 95, version 28.5 build 2, I receive an error on the first line indicating unknown Intel.

I have tried it on another computer with a Haswell I5 and it has no problem recognizing the Intel processor in it. I have a fresh copy on my machine so I know that no files are corrupted with the program. All my other software, such as CPZ, Real Temp, Core Temp, 3DMark, recognize the model number of the processor.

Any help would be appreciated.

It shouldn't be a problem. Prime95 should still select FMA FFTs.

Prime95 uses the results of CPUID to determine the processor architecture. I need to update the program with the latest values that CPUID can return.

Note that even though it is fixed in 28.5 build 3, that hasn't been released yet.

Running Linux, mprime uses AVX here:

You are correct. 4960 is Ivy Bridge technology, not Haswell (despite the 4xxx numbering).
