Iterations between results file output?

I just borged one more machine, and now it came to me that I leave default value for Results_File_Iterations option. I think default value for this option is rather big. Could I leave it as it is, or should I go back to borged machine and choose some smaller value?

I have that too, by default, no idea what it's for.
It doesn't seem to be documented.

Yes, I was thinking on ResultsFileIterations=999999999 in prime.ini.

I find at the Team Prime Rib's instalation guide page that recomended preferences for this field is 500000.

Yes you don't have to worry about it.
I don't know why the TPR FAQ recommends 500000. I have never changed it from the default.

Oh yes I remember now. It may be useful for people whose machines were crashing or when their savefiles were getting corrupted.

Actually the Right to Disk is the setting that is most important. Set it to 10 minutes if you have a suspect machine, but longer for proven hardware. The save files are maintained by the Right to Disk.

The 500000 for iterations is gor the GUI. It allows you to actually see some progress.

"ResultsFileIterations=1000000" gives me the date and the "Iteration xxxxxxx" line in the output once every 1,000,000 iterations.

"InterimResidues=1000000" gives me the interim residue lines once every 1,000,000 iterations. This useful if you are running a parallel run with another user or computer, and want to compare intermediate residues periodically to see whether there has been an intermediate error. If so, you can back up to the previous save file where both systems matched and start over. Assuming, of course, that you have intermediate save files. That's the purpose of the "InterimFiles=1000000". It writes a save file named pyyyyyyy.nnn every 1,000,000 iterations (yyyyyyy is your exponent, nnn starts at 001 on the first save file and increments by 1 for each subsequent save file). If you ever need to restart from this interim file, simply remove the ".nnn" from the end of the name (or, more conservately, copy it to a new file named pyyyyyyy). One hazard of using this option is that it leaves a bunch of large files behind if you don't clean up your directory periodically.

I don't actually run in parallel with other computers. I simply enjoy seeing the additional information in my results.txt file. And having the intermediate save files has rescued me once or twice when I accidently deleted both my pyyyyyyy and qyyyyyyy files.
