Default Official "World cup 2014/2018" teat

I mean, c'mon guys, but no World Cup topic to discuss? I knew that mathematicians are strange creatures... but no bets? no odds? no statistics?

(I wanted to name it "the soccer thread" or so, but I gave up, imagining how our always on duty supermod could change that title... )

Last fiddled with by LaurV on 2018-07-10 at 13:26 Reason: s/now Worls Cup/no World Cup/ - wanted for long to make that correction...

Well it seems you have no content to add either.

So I'll add some for you. Here is a nice cup.

That is true, I always have been a total anti-talent at all sports with balls (hehe, I bean handball, football, basketball, etc ), and, for football, i.e. soccer for the guys behind the pool, beside of the rules of the game, I know nothing. I don't know the teams, I don't know the players, etc., and I don't bet on sports. But I like kibitzing about, a lot... So, I expect better (real) players to jump on the field first. (Yeah, I know, Chris will say something about masturbation :hehe:)

From your name, I thought you are Spanish
Joking apart, I didn't watch it, but I am going to! (Some friend of mine who is crazy about football is recording all the games, and/or downloading them from the pirate sites, and I like to watch some games with him sometimes, I like his "professional" and funny comments, especially after the game was played and we know the score already ).

Delta Airlines thought the photo below was suitable to celebrate the USA's 2-1 victory over Ghana in a tweet. The only problem is that there are no wild giraffes in Ghana, and the photo was in fact taken in Kenya. For an airline which flies all over the world, this lack of appreciation of different countries in Africa is less than impressive!

It prompted various derisive reactions, such as this one from one Yair Rosenberg:
Quote:
"Uh Bob, we're gonna need a giraffe to put on the next flight to Ghana."
"What?"
"Don't ask - oh, and be sure to photograph it when you land."

I totally agree :).

The press now call Robin van Persie "the Flying Dutchman" after his impressive diving header.

This World Cup is full of surprises, one of them: Brazil 0 - 0 Mexico.
