can you define what a function is that may be a place to start see if your definition agrees with the mathematical definition. some words mean specific things in science and mathematics let's see if you know what they are. maybe then we can pinpoint where your understanding waivers. also if those are in programming languages it might be good to tell what languages they are as that could affect what they mean to that language.

the main reason I suggested precise language is because it allows a multitude of people to know what is meant ( or at least have a way of figuring it out like proopiomelanocortin breaks down into combining forms that mean the precursor protein to opiates, melanin, and the adrenal cortex, the adrenal cortex being the outer layer of the gland on top of the kidneys ) you say a complexity function but that has this meaning in computer science. is this the meaning you mean ? and if so of what data ?
