From Prof. Sam

Texas State is the name of a school in San Marcos, Texas. I have
no idea what resources they have. They factored 6,370+ c161 one
day after Batalov+Dodson sent me the factorization. Then I told
them the URL of the "who" file. They replied that they would do
5,805L c160 next.

Texas State HPC have split the c160 from 5,805L as p68*p93. Does anyone know what software they used?
10,366+ c172 is their next target.

I see that 5,785L c162 is reserved by the mysterious [smallest available].
A nice addition from Sam anyway.

Does anyone know whether they are using msieve or pol51 for the poly selection?

I guess they've decided to use their 3936-node Ranger cluster for the sieving. (Yes, I do mean 3936-node. I didn't add in an extra digit by mistake.)

If they're tackling a C188 with msieve, it would be the largest postprocessing job since 2,941- (I think Tom estimated they'd be about the same level of difficulty).

I wonder: Chris Monico was working on an update to GGNFS, and he is a professor at Texas Tech...

Indeed, but Texas Tech != Texas State.

Do you have any contact with these folks?

Very intriguing. Degree 6, maybe? :-)

I'll ask Don. We are supposed to meet a few weeks ago, but I got too busy to stop by.

Considering that they have a ~4000-node, ~60000-core cluster, maybe they're just using pol51 for poly search? Also, what are they using for post-processing? msieve, CWI, CADO, Kleinjung's software (which I thought was private) or their own?

I am not sure about "~4000-node, 60000-core" part.
Not to be confused with U.Texas at Austin.

Sorry for starting this (hopefully the visitors also along the way colluded into reading the meat of the thread, too )
Jason, please outbranch these several messages anywhere into the Cunnigham Numbers forum.
