Only quiet progress on the ECM Server. I post updates when factors are found. My work continues to require long hours, and most of my time for distributed computing projects has gone into trying to get oddperfect.org started up.

If there was interest, we could do some more "special project" work of using Prime95 for ECM on large composite exponents. That work had progressed to sufficiently high bounds that people were unhappy about the time required per curve on 3,326,400. There was some consideration of going for a mixture of smaller exponents. Seeing the net effect of a mixture is complicated because each large exponent also does work on its factors, and these factors overlap. The Planner Page at http://elevensmooth.com/ElevenPlan.html is an aid to understanding these overlaps.

I can answer half that question:

The name ElevenSmooth comes from the fact that the prime factorization of the exponent has 11 as it's biggest factor. The term "smooth" is factoring lingo having to do with what types of factors are found in a number. If a number is 7-smooth, it means it's biggest prime factor is 7. 98 is 7-smooth because it's factorization is 2*7^2. There's a further use for the word having to do with p-1 and ecm, but I'm not quite sure I understand that aspect, so I'll leave it someone else to explain.
