Default Prime95 stable importance

How it important is it for a computer to be prime95 stable to do llr testing? I have a comp that failes prime95 after 45 min to an hour and 15 min. Is it safe to do llr work with it? How long does prime95 need to run for it to be safe? Other than failing prime95 eventually the computer seems pretty stable.

pretty means not 100% stable. Personally I woudn't bother with LLR on this computer, as this may well be a waste of CPU time... Why not investigate first the reason for instability?

LLR and prime95 have the same core math routines. Try dialing back your overclock, or slow the memory timings, or bump the voltage a tad.

Ok, I raised the voltage a tad, and now it has been stable for and 2 hours and 10 minutes(still running). If I run llr and it gets the same residue twice, is that a good check? Or is it likely an unstable processor could make the same mistake twice in the same spot.

Its now been stable for 16 hours and 40 minutes(still running). If I rerun the llr tests I did and get the same residues, then I am stable?

When I run an overclock right on the edge, I get a Prime error about once every 10 days (running 24/7). I don't consider this stable, and I run one Mhz FSB lower when it happens (mostly in summer, or when dust has built up). 16 hours indicates fairly reliable LLR results, but if you get ANY errors, slow it down one notch. I find when I'm on the edge, the computer is VERY sensitive to room temperature-- if you get an error on a warm day, do not feel compelled to re-run the past week's LLR tests to make sure they were right.

Very unlikely.
