is any factoring algorithms getting patent for its implementations?.Why not?

There is a patent on the TWINKLE device. See " Method and apparatus for factoring large numbers with optoelectronic devices" US patent #475920, filed in 1999.
My guess as to why there are not more patents in this area, is that most people working on factoring are either academic or do so as a hobby; and therefore have little interest in deriving monetary reward for their efforts. A lot of them are probably people who despise the patent system in general. |
