Oh, you just HAD to quote that one, didn't you. lol ![]() Nevertheless, the first 2 paras. of his explanation of why RPS and hence Base5 avoid BOINC is the same reason that NPLB and CRUS avoid BOINC and they are good ones. The only reason that I could ever see for BOINC in prime searching would be if the following 3 conditions were satisfied for an effort: 1. It is very important to the math community. 2. It is very irritating or unpopular for most people to run as a project "for fun" and hence has reached a "dormant" stage. 3. Its tests are extremely long and so people don't see an increase in their "credits" for days at a time. But that's just my two cents. I'm sure there are some BOINCers out there that could come up with other reasons why BOINC would be preferable in other circumstances. Gary |
