We set the system up last night. We haven't dealt with cable management yet because we want to make sure the cooling loop doesn't leak before we start buttoning things up.

Over the next few days we will post all of our thoughts and experiences with putting this system together. Plus, there are some small parts like fittings we haven't catalogued yet. We will also post performance numbers.

We took off the power limiters from the CPU. The highest wattage we were able to get from the entire system, including the display, was roughly 675W. That was with the GPU running gpuowl at ~200W and the CPU running a non-AVX mprime torture test with 36 threads. Switching to AVX-512 dropped the system wattage to roughly 600W.

Interesting speed difference.

For the current wave front FFT size, which is faster: AVX-512 @ 2.8Ghz, or the much hotter No-AVX @ 3.8Ghz?

Default Bill of Materials / Total CapEx?

Mike, it's been very interesting watching you document your build.

Way too many photons for my tastes, but to each their own. And you did say all the LEDs were an experiment.

I looking to do a new build myself sometime soon. I would be interested in knowing the list of all the parts and costing involved with this build. I know you've done it post-by-post, but would it be asking too much for you to put it all together in one spreadsheet and/or post?

Right now I think he is around 20 months worth of my car payments on it.

We will test this tonight. Thanks for the idea!

The speed difference is because Intel has a frequency offset programmed into the CPU that lowers the clock speed based on the type of load. We have all of the power and current limiters turned off but we haven't overclocked anything so those speeds are the "default" speeds. We'll post the offset table from the BIOS later.

If the CPU is overclocked it can draw more than 500W in some situations!
