It's much simpler. The mainlines against sicilian are all giving white GREAT advantage.
g3 basically avoids all that theory, yet for someone like Carlsen who wins games based upon throwing energy at the game, such an inferior line is fine for him. Anand by now blew his better position and Carlsen plays for a win. That's why Carlsen keeps playing this. Objectively it's not really a discussion what's better against Sicilian. So this has nothing to do whether the game is 1-0 or 1/2. About Sicilian no one argues even that it's 1-0. Yet it'll be total impossible to objectively win against the 32 piece database with 3.g3 :) The theoretic discussion will be about e4 e5 Nf3 Nc6 what the status is of THAT and 0 other openings. In game 7 I find it a bit surprising that Carlsen dragged the game out as long as he did. His last pawn fell at move 77 leaving a K+R+N vs K+R endgame once he (later) removed Anand's remaining pawns. He didn't concede the draw until move 122. I know that top players play the theoretically drawn K+R+B vs K+R endgame out to the 50-move rule because it's hard to defend accurately, but I thought it was pretty trivially drawn with a knight instead of a bishop (am I wrong?). Was Carlsen seriously still hoping to win in the last 45 moves of this long game? Was it rude to play on as he did? Or was it reasonable "gamesmanship"?

After 8 moves it was a drawish position.
Trying to win drawn positions is what modern 'top chess' is doing a lot. Usually it ends in a draw. Now the 28 piece database or something might disagree there and say it's a win for white - it's possible - yet in todays human top chess Berlin is a draw. Also at FM and IM level it tends to get drawn quite a lot. I was sitting next to a person this Sunday who played it and drew it. It's a draw and it will remain a draw in human chess. I hope you don't mind that after Carlsen's second win in this match, i stopped checking the games at end of afternoon. The match is over normal spoken. I only took a look for 20 seconds replaying the start of game, because you posted here. A well known position that Anand and Carlsen know very well and have had on their own board before. They both know it's a draw. My advice is to not watch games with openings like this, it's wasting your time. I saw the current game for 5 seconds. Another line that usually ends in a draw. Though it is open position, so there is more possible if one of players makes mistake. This match is not worth more of my time than 5 seconds next week somewhere. According to the annotations at chessbase.com, our compatriot world class Grand Master Loek van Wely was much less dismissive about White's winning chances in the "endgame opening" which they played. After White's 33rd move the comment is:
Quote:
Incidentally, I love playing through long endgames where one side has an advantage which they are trying to convert and I think they are very instructional for weak amateurs like me. I note your advice but must record my dissension. ![]() |

commentators talk for their own job, what do you expect a commentator to say?
The truth? Anand is not trying to win the match after game 6. He will do maybe silly attempt game 10 or something, like previous match. So entire matchresult for Anand is based upon doing 1 winning attempt in game 10 or something? How big are your odds then to win the match? Nearby 0% of course. Chess World Championship Match 2016
Magnus Carlsen (Norway) vs Sergey Karjakin (Russia) is starting today at New York (USA). Venue is not home soil of either of the players at all! Intentionally I do not want to participate in Vote Chess Games or Game against Stockfish any more. I have suffered bad luck in my game 1 with at least three times being banned from mersenne forum due to chess game and also the game is too slow enough. I would indeed be interested to participate in correspondence chess games (what does that actually mean?) if the time limit per move is not more than 24 hours (maximum of 72 hours) or in individual one to one chess games. Intentionally I do not want to bother in Vote Chess Games or Game against Stockfish any more, but I would like to ask a few questions: Is Stockfish 7 a chess engine similarly to that of Komodo 10? Why would MooMoo2 want to bother spending $10 to the mersenne forum if the forum guys can win against Stockfish 7, as playing black colour, especially in a game in which chess engines are used for help? Why would GD Barnes want to bother spending $60 to get Komodo 10 and MooMoo2 would give $30 in return if the game can be won by forum guys as playing black colour? Dear Chess Players, Next time the vote chess game of the following chess variants will be interesting to consider.
I like Fischer Random Chess also known as Chess 960 the most. Normal Chess variant is number 518 out of number 960. (Up words is a variant of scrabble and clue do and scrabble can have variants with larger sized boards and categories and multiple languages or mix up of scoring places, dynamic tile distribution and variable face value even for same letter, variable tile rack per sack, teacher mode, etc.) Code:
List tag is formatted in post edit window, not door. And raw text does not appear and to be editable - not suits and applies, not seems and appears. List tag supports Latin alphabets, numbers, roman numerals, and not Greek alphabets, cyrillic alphabets at all. Although to say that is actually wrong. Latin alphabet had fewer number of alphabets rather than, instead of modern form. For colour tags, you will have to give double quotes, not single quotes for arguments. For font size tags, list tags, quote tags, code tags, you need not. Posting object one time is sufficiently enough. Although I doubt if whether code tags can support any arguments at all. Post = Posit? What does it actually mean? What is the difference between these two words? Lol at frequently often - soften harden roughen smoothen. Lol = Laughing Out Loud. As in Yahoo Games. Yahoo Games style of giving away attendance - with in - with in. Expand Lol - My Google Account Set Security Question after December 2007 hack. There exist column width, and not row width to be considering. I prefer full text rather than instead of abbreviations, acronyms and not expansions. More to follow. Very much. Much more. Defense. It is not an active move, weakens black's kingside to some extent, and blocks development of black's knight to its most aggressive square at f6. In 1858, a T Barnes played this move against the strongest player of the day, Paul Morphy and won the game. This was one of the few Paul Morphy's recorded defeats. T Barnes richly deserves to have this opening named after him. May be it is eleventh good move as black colour in response to 1. e4 move. The moves weaker to this are advancing of corner pawns, moving knight to the edge of the board, advancing of other f and g pawns which will ultimately weaken black colour's kingside position and moves like 1. e4 b5 or 1. e4 f5 which hang away the b-pawn and f-pawn respectively. Advancing of corner pawns is too passive for black colour. Moving black knight to a passive square is not an active play for black colour and black knight does not participate in the game at all - it would be have got locked in.) This will be a real match:
Karjakin - Carlsen I give it 50-50. www.chessbomb.com is the website most chessplayers follow. To answer 1 of the questions: Stockfish is a derivative from Glaurung (norwegian engine) and Houdini is the newer version of Rybka. Both are total different engines. Stockfish has the smallest amount of knowledge of any top engine. It's purely search only. |

Unfortunately, the chess games I cannot enjoy because of the fact that the games played away will take place away in to New York, USA when ever I will be falling asleep in to Hyderabad, India.
Similarly in to that of online Scrabble game played in to my own iPad, against a player who lives 12 time zones away - starting and beginning with a one hour time limit game intentionally at the late night of the opponent. @ diep - glad in to seeing you active after wards two years period of time! So you browse off line - as like increasingly many number of users multiplicatively doing and becoming and using right now by using these days as like today? @ What does it actually mean? What is the difference between these two words? @ diep - 50 - 50 chance? One player should be stronger than an other player - in to my own humble opinion! World rank number 1 versus world rank number 9! But types of things have always got some exceptions and are be being unpredictable enough? Both of these two players are be being born in to year of 1990 - defending champion versus challenger. Age - not me 26 years old - are be being about around is had got about around. Types of things - in to quote tags and code tags like in to at all away - away! @ diep - you do not participate in to vote chess game played or game against stockfish 7 chess engine played - not Komodo 10? I do not participate intentionally as like types of things are be being mentioned above. Who wants to become a millionaire: Television show - life lines available - subject in to availability cases: 50 - 50, double dip (take two attempts), change question, audience poll, tele phone a friend. Code:
Accumulate thoughts and strikings and then post away - types of things - in to quote tags and code tags like in to at all away - away! More to follow. Very much. Much more. More in to follow. Very much. Much more. No rush - no hurry. No haste - no necessity. Good enough. Interesting enough. Necessary enough. Sufficient enough. Or not? And avoiding called as, not also known as, key words. Key pads. Or not? Lock holes. And avoiding not? Windows text editor word wrap does not preserve in to line breaks and point separators. Linux and Unix text editor word wrap does support in to line breaks and point separators. This is a hobby community. This is a family friendly forum. In case anyone hasn't been paying attention, games 1-7 were all drawn, though with a couple that seemed like they might be wins for good portions of them before one side held.
Game 8 was the first decisive one, with the underdog stunning the champ after the champ passed up a draw before making a critical mistake in the resulting sharp position. Game 9 was a draw, and Game 10 was an equalizer, again with the would-be loser passing up a draw earlier in the match before making mistakes in a sharp end game. |
