Default Proof of Perfect Numbers

I have a proof for Perfect numbers;

My proof shows:

1.) that there are an infinite number of perfect numbers, hence proving that there are an infinite number of Mersenne primes.

2.) My proof also shows that all perfect numbers are even numbers, hence an odd perfect number does not exist. But what implication this may have on Mersenne primes, I'm not sure.

Default Theres more to the story

Just looking further into my proof, previously perfect numbers are calculated by the equation p=(2^(n-1))(2^n-1), with my methods, I can calculate the perfect numbers much more faster with utilising a different branch of mathematics. I'm sure with these new insights, implication to the mersenne primes are within.

Well, please post what you have done. Both claims you have made are very grand ones that have baffled the greatest mathematicians for centuries; consequently, your claims will not be believed unless you show your proof, and the proof is found to be valid.

I'm currently checking my proof, and rechecking it, once it seems understandable, I will provide some insights.

According to my proof, perfect numbers can indeed be found more easily, and so can the Mersenne numbers.
But my method requires implementation of a complex algorithm, I would rather find the next Mersenne prime number and claim the prize. But the problem is I don't know how to produce algorithms without mistakes. And this algorithm requires so much precision, it wouldn't be in my reach to be successful at it.

So indeed, after I've verified my proof and method I will surely release my method to someone I can trust and can help me.

I'm sure what I've found is quite important and helpful.

The internet is full of grandiose claims of mathematical proofs that can't be revealed quite yet for some reason or another, and I've never seen any of them being followed up by anything substantial. Making claims like that is a surefire way of getting labeled "crank" and (at best) ignored.

There are a few things I've over-looked and it does affect my proof.

Yet I can definitely prove that if there are an infiite of numbers, then there are an infinite of perfect numbers and mersenne numbers.

Can anyone assure me if this would be helpful in anyway?

Vijay,

Such claims are the quintessential form of trolling on maths forums. If you really believe you have a correct proof and you really don't want to share it with the whole world then

1) Make sure it's a mathmatically precise proof with no handwaving. This outlaws instantly clauses like "if there are an infiite of numbers".

2) Find someone you like the look of (= looks trustworthy) on the forums, PM them and ask them to kindly have a look at it for you.

If you want I could write the program for you. I would only need the algorithm and I would traduce it to code, and I'm really good at that.

That's one of those cases where the words in each language have the same Latin root, but have evolved to mean rather different things.

So has Vijay taken you up on your generous offer to violate & betray his algorithm?
