RSS feeds

Admins: Wrt the forum FAQ, I've tried getting RSS feeds to work but without success, so I assume they're not enabled. Is this because they're not in demand or is there some other reason?

We don't see an option to enable RSS anywhere in the control panel. We're probably looking in the wrong spot, though.

Okay, we found it. It is a yes or no option, so we guess it is on now. Let us know if it works. A screenshot would be cool too.

That's great, thanks :) OK then, here's a screenshot of Firefox reading the feeds (I'll probably take it down in a few days though).

Ok, I'm trying to get absolutely nontechnical info on RSS feeds. From what I gather, RSS feeds look at the sites you subscribe to and that support RSS, find what posts are new, and gives you just that.

If that's what it is, then that's exactly what I want. I surf a bunch of forums that I know support RSS and I would love to be able to get the new info on the site instead of having to search each site each time to check for anything new.

Basically I want to know a gloss-over "how does it work?" Do I need a special program to get the feeds? Any info or links appreciated.

Depends what platform you're under really. I have a gdesklet RSS reader (here ). There are also windows readers but I've never tried any of them - Google for "RSS aggregator" if interested.

Firefox 1.0PR can read RSS streams - for instance go to slashdot and you'll see an orange button on the bottom right of the window. Actually the screenshot I posted was a bit of a cheat - Firefox didn't notice that the stream existed so I put it in the bookmarks manually. We need an "Add RSS bookmark" option.

Here is a screenshot of it on a MyYahoo page. This would be great if you had MyYahoo as a home page on your browser.
