I resumed XP from hibernation and Prime95 tried to contact the server before the wi-fi was up and running. So there was a CURL error, once the wi-fi was connected I initiated a manual comm, and my heart stopped when I saw the username (UID) ANONYMOUS flash past. When I opened the 'Test | Primenet...' dialogue the userid field was blank. {The computer name was still there.} I dug out the results.txt file and submitted it via manual testing, it accepted the results except for the TF-LMH exponents which had a factor found for. If I query the exponent results on the server, they are credited to both ANONYMOUS" and "The Treachers" but I don't seem to have credit for them listed in my results The affected exponents are 338197523 338189609 338181427 338173271 338165153 I know they are only 5 LMH assignments, but one of them was factored, plus if this is a bug we should try to nail it. I can confirm that all my exponents that were assigned to v4_computers are now missing. Results being returned are not correctly credited either.

On my computers, too, the userid was changed automatically to ANONYMOUS, without any prompting on my part. I changed the userid's back and the computer names are appearing again on the User Summary page and on the CPU page.
Perhaps because of the userid change, and even after I changed the userid's back, the Results page do not show any of my completed TF's for an 11 hour period. I am assuming that I will eventually get credited to that work, yes? My User Summary page shows the correct number of assignments (36), but the Assignment Details page does not (only 31). The assignments under v4_computers (4) are accounted for; it's on my quad-core system where the discrepancy occurs. If I go to the Computer Properties page for my quad-core system, it shows 32 work units assigned. My worktodo.txt file also shows 32 exponents. The assignment details page only shows 27. I haven't yet determined which exponents are missing. Unlike petrw1, sdbardwick and garo, "v4_computers" still appear on my account page. However, on the CPU page I no longer have the option to drop the CPU -- there is no checkbox next to the name. (I don't want to drop the CPU anyway, but there used to be a checkbox there.) Also, I can't click on the name to see its properties, like I used to. I realize that TPTB on GIMPS are working hard and doing their best during the V5 transition, but I'm frustrated with all of the glitches that are going on. And I only have three computers to manage; I can't imagine how some of you with scores of computers are coping. -FES Last fiddled with by fes016 on 2008-11-17 at 12:45 |

Which OS are the computers experiencing that problem using ?
If it is Vista the problems could come from the different folders where configuration and result files might be : "C:\Program Files\PRime95", "C:\Program Data\PRime95" and "C:\Users\user_name\AppData\Local\VirtualStore\Program Files\Prime95". Some of these folders are hidden folders, this means you have to activate "view hidden folders" via the folder configuration in control panel. (If you find multiple sets of files you will have to select which one to use...) Stop and exit Prime95 and move all files to a subfolder of the root, "Program Data" or if only you will run the program the "Documents" folder of your profile. A sub folder of "Program Data" would be the best choice for the current Microsoft policy. Make sure that all users that could start the programs have write access to the folder. Jacob |

This weekend I experienced this problem on one of the Linux machines. The results were returned as ANONYMOUS but the CPU Name was still correct. Is there a way to relink the results, or should we just email our results file to
George? |
