Waiting for memory lock 'memlock-0'

GpuOwl v7.1-11 for Windows had been working well for me, I've completed a few PRPs without issues. I generated a proof file and uploaded it with Prime95.

This evening I checked in on gpuOwl's progress and my screen had frozen (I was also running Prime95 and have been adjusting CPU voltage and XMP settings).

When I rebooted and tried running gpuOwl again, I was greeted with this message, and it does not appear to be making progress.

Can someone please translate this for me (my PC skills are basic) or help me get back up and running?

I'm using a Radeon 5700xt with 8gb memory.

Is your gpuowl directory in a location where it is synchronized by google drive, onedrive, or the like? I've run into this issue as well and for me it seems to be an interaction between gpuOwl and OneDrive.

To get going again:

There should be a memlock-0 directory in your gpuOwl directory. You can delete that directory and it should run fine after that. The presence of that directory is used as a lock to avoid problems if multiple instances are using a pooled directory for worktodo and results.

Yes, my computer does have OneDrive active.
I deleted the file and am back up and running. Greatly appreciate your assistance!

Great! Glad to hear it.

You may want to set gpuOwl's temporary directory to a location outside of OneDrive's purview with the -tmpDir flag. Otherwise onedrive ends up continuously dealing with hundreds of file creations and deletions and it can really bog your filesystem and explorer.

I just disabled OneDrive, but I want to learn how to use windows better, so I'll do some research and try to figure out how to do what you just suggested. :)
