Not sure how to check CPU and mobo temperature.
Depending on the manufacturer of your mobo, there may be different utilities to check temperatures and voltages in the system. For example, ASUS motherboards usually come with AsusProbe on the installation CD. MSI (at least some models) come with PC Alert. You could check the brand of the MB and whether the utility is installed in the system. Another possibility is to install SiSoft Sandra (you can download free versions from the web). It consists of a very comprehensive set of modules for testing, benchmarking, etc, and under "CPU and BIOS Information" it gives you info about the temperature). It is a very interesting and even educative utility.

That's probably a good idea. Reboot_It has the right plan.

Just to update.

It run 1200000 itterations of DC. No error messages any more. But I don't leave it to run 24/7 anymore.

Also, I just download Sandra and will play with it a bit.

Thanks

This is why I don't run LLs on my P4. I averaged about 8-10 of those errors per 33M exponent.
So I figured.... ok - time to start trial factoring -
Usually mine were 0.5 > 0.4, once was worse, about 5 times was better.

OK, I just find some time to finaly play with Sandra utility.

I find out that temperature of my CPU (at computer that report errors when it stay on for few days) is 50 degrees C. Is it bad? If yes how can I fix it?

mobo temp is 35 C. it is VIA Tech's mobo - P4M266-8233 (if that means anything to anyone).

CPU is Iintel P4 1.8 GHz.

Not sure if some other info can be useful to you?

Temp goes up for 2 C! Now it's 52 for CPU and 37 for mobo.

I have no experience with the P4M266-8233. But 52C is no thread to a P4. Even if your CPU-Fan breaks, it will throttle down.

I am lucky if i keep my old Athlon below 60 C. And i even replaced the stock cooler with a better one.

One threat a hot CPU poses to the system is an indirect one. On some mainboards the voltage control electrolyte condensators are close to the CPU-heatsink and recieve some radiant heat. That may shorten their lifespan below 4 years. Improved airflow inside the case will help.

The savefiles will not be delted and the LL test will pick up from where it left off.

BTW, you can get doublechecks now by increasing teh "days of work" field after changing the worktype.
Or you can simply turn on the "Interimfiles" option (see undoc.txt) and make it write out files every 500k iterations or whatever you wish.

If you get an error, delete the current p & q files. Take the last known good (see results.txt to work out which one) interim p file the series of which end in .01 .02 etc. Rename to remove the extension and restart the test.

I am testing an exponent in the 79m range, it writes interim files every 1m iterations.

I would wait for a couple of weeks until at least the first 2 DCs had come back as either Confirmed or Triple Check Required. If all were confirmed I would change back to first time LLs and allow the interrupted LL test to complete. If any failed, I would consider dropping the 21% test and sorting out the PC (torture test, cooling, etc).

I just finished my DC assignement with this machine. Where can I check if it is Confirmed or Triple Check Required?

What do you think - should I start from begining with previous exponent that has several ERROR: ROUND OFF messages? Or just to continue? I have completed 4418158 iterations, and somehow it seems more secure to me to start from begining. Just to be sure I don't produce result with errors in it.

And, yes, that's my third LL test (although DC LL, but that's also counts)!
