Method 1 seems like it would work to me. It is basically continue as normal with teams asked to take their time.

I have received the sealed move and will post it on Jan.4th. (method #1)

I would prefer not to hold too many envelopes (method #2) - I am already forgetful as it is. One date I can remember. ...I think.

Thank you.

Perhaps my description was unclear - method #2 requires you to hold only one envelope at a time, while remembering only one posting date at a time.

However, perhaps I was too involved in the exact technicalities of adjournment procedures (I was a certified USCF tournament director) and overlooked that the burden that method #1 puts on each team is relatively light. Only in the case of forgetful teams would method #2 be preferable. Gekkos Gekkota have not shown evidence of such AFAIK. We Pirates now are posting exact deadline time/date at the beginning of each move discussion thread as a reference .

Oops. Timestamp is 02 Jan 14, 08:11 GMT

So,

(A) we could do every thing two days earlier than outlined in my post #109 Method #1

... or

(B) we could agree to allow one extra day for both Gecko move 17 and Pirate move 18.

Plan A

Jan 2 - Batalov posts Pirates move 17. Gecko deadline for move 17 is 09 Jan 14, 08:11 GMT

Jan 9 - Geckos post their move 17. Pirates deadline for move 18 is 16 Jan 14, 08:11 GMT

Jan 16 -Pirates post their move 18, which steps on the "13th-17th January" exam week that henryzz requested off. Gecko deadline is 23 Jan 14, 08:11 GMT

Plan B

Jan 2 - Batalov posts Pirates move 17. Gecko deadline for move 17 is 10 Jan 14, 08:11 GMT (8-day interval)

Jan 10 - Geckos post their move 17. Pirates deadline for move 18 is 18 Jan 14, 08:11 GMT (8-day interval)

Jan 18 - Pirates post their move 18. Gecko deadline for move 18 is Jan 25, 08:11 GMT (back to usual 7-day interval).

I recommend plan B.

Did I forget to say that I was forgetful?
For the whole day of Jan 1st, I was thinking "must post on the 2nd", so after I came back from fitness+sauna after mindnight, I did. It happens.

Shall we go for plan B then, both sides using 8 days for their next two half-moves? Does anyone object?

No objection from me, fully agree, and thanks again to the people who invested time in this - especially cheesehead, during my absence (you have to see his analysis for the last moves! - when the game is finished, of course - we have to call him "chesshead" from now I will be back for the next move.

Remember, it will be the responsibility of each team's captain to refrain from posting their move until the 8th day after the previous move post -- for Gecko move 17 and Pirate move 18, that is.

Geckos post their move 17 on Jan. 10, not earlier.
