Smile 15M Digits - Just For Fun

I've picked a block of 40 exponents which could yield a 15 million digit number. I generated these myself.

The first step is to trial factor to 265, which is running now. Those that survive, will go to 269.

After that, I don't know yet. I'm doing this just for the fun of it. Perhaps this is why I've asked so many questions over the last month or so. Who know?

Thank you to those who helped me learn how to determine number lengths!

Have you checked whether this job was not in fact already done?
E.g.
http://www.mersenne.org/report_expon...&B1=Get+status shows that
most such exponents are already done to 2^69.

As I said, this is just for fun.

What I am playing with is not in this range. However, I did check my range. Some are done and some are not.

I didn't "check" these out on the server therefore I am not obligated to report any results.

However if you check them out for LL, Prime95 will set the bit level to TF to. And if you do report the results you will save someone from redoing it.

I recommend that you coordinate your work and results through PrimeNet. It's as simple as checking the Use PrimeNet box. (in Test > PrimeNet, the checkbox)
There are many benefits (e.g. no wasted work, and you get GIMPS credit) and very few downsides (only one I can think of is that an offline computer will be more difficult to manage).

I'll make all of you a deal. I'l factor everything through 269 then check to see what's been done. Out of the 40, there's only been two with factors so far. There's 9 left in the first round to 265.

I've got my cores set up to work on just one exponent at a time. This makes it all a bit easier to see; my eyes are not so great anymore.

I've changed my mind. I'll attempt to reserve the exponents I am working with, even if I have to send George an email. There are 15 of them, not assigned, as far as I can tell. All have been factored to 269.

I'll factor them all to 270. I want to be able to spread them across multiple computers, not tied to any one in particular.

I can't reserve them. Oh well.

Distribute the lines above to your computer's worktodo.txt files. A typical version 25 prime95 worktodo.txt file on a dual core computer looks like this:

[Worker #1]
Test=A5996856A4F73D28634EFA6CB510066F,exponent,68,1
[Worker #2]
DoubleCheck=B94D34BF558295F697581568AD2E14AF,exponent,66,1

Older prime95's must run one prime95 instance for each core. The input file is called worktodo.ini. A typical worktodo.ini file looks like this:

Test=exponent,68,1
or
DoubleCheck=exponent,66,1

For Glucas and Mlucas follow the documentation that comes with those programs
