I´m checking the new prime95 25.7 beta version and I have seen that it is possible to check for 100.000 digit numbers test.
The time estimation are until 2021. So how does that work if after a year your lease will be released. How can I calculate one number on 4 cores (I have a quad core) or how can I share the calculation of one 100.000 digits number to several computers/cores (I have a quad core but it assigns to every thread another digit number)? |

If you are refering to exponents that will generate a number one hundred million (100,000,000) digits long, then yes it can test those. I would suggest that you test the machine and the software first, before attempting a 100M digit number. This should take ~1 to 2 months of work on the computer to verify that it is stable and returns results that are confirmed by others. After that, yes you can have 4 cores work together on a single number. Look on this forum for threads with 25.4, 25.5, or 25.6 in the title. They will help you learn how to set the software. No, you can't share the assignment among several computers at once. |

If the testing would need several years (and not only 2 months) wouldn´t I fall out of the queue after a year? How will others try to crack these big numbers (32 cores?)?

No, as long as your computer makes regular updates to the server at least every 60 days, you won't lose the assignment.
But I don't recommend starting one now, at least not on a 4-core. It will take years and remember you only have about 1 in 3,000,000 probability that it will be prime. |

Yes 100,000,000 ...
By the way: is it planed to connect several computers and to calculate one number? Is it technical possible? |

Would it be faster than on one computer? Absolutely not. You can use several CPUs/cores within a computer, and it speeds it up, but slows down your overall throughput. |

The v5 server reserves the right to reassign exponents that take longer than a year to complete. This won't happen for 100M exponents. The warning is for users that reserve small exponents that will take years to complete. In the past, we've been very, very tolerant of reservations that take several years to complete. The new policy tries to strike a better balance.

That said, if you are starting your LL test in 5 days why do you think it won't complete within a year? |
