Meh. I've never had much use for a larger bore than 12 gauge (18.53 mm, 0.729 inch) although occasionally it requires repeated application. I think multiple runs in multiple P-1 applications and versions qualifies as "repeated application". "Bulletproof" is not necessarily stubborn-engineer-proof. But it could easily have been in any given case.
https://www.mersenne.ca/prob.php?exp...ts=79&K=1&C=-1 gives ~3.885% odds of finding a factor.

P-1 found a factor in stage #2, B1=3110000, B2=75417500, E=12.
UID: Kriesel, M87357233 has a factor: 2056121949903925392617977 (P-1, B1=3110000, B2=75417500, E=12)

The successful P-1 factoring run was performed in prime95 v29.5b6, in about 20 hours with all 16 cores of a dual e5-2670 system running Windows 7 and using ~53GB of a 64GB allowance. Worktodo entry was PFactor=N/A,1,2,87357233,-1,79,9
A separate gpu-based tf run for 78 to 79 bits found no factor there.

https://www.mersenne.org/report_expo...7357233&full=1

The corresponding k value of the factor found is 11,768,469,989,794,236 = 22 × 33 × 2 390477 × 45 583921 per https://www.alpertron.com.ar/ECM.HTM

To err is human. Before this successful run, I made attempts in CUDAPm1 v0.22 and in v0.20. The P-1 factoring runs indicated up to 4.8% odds of finding a factor. Neither was able to complete stage 2 on an 11GB gpu. Retries reducing number of primality tests saved from 9 to as low as 6 also failed. Then in my first attempt on prime95 I forgot to check the memory allowance, so it only ran stage 1 and did not save the stage 1 file for stage 2 use. The second P95 try did the job.

I view this find as having little or no bearing on an opinion of samuel's intelligence. It does bear on the accuracy of his posts or claims, as, in a way, the frequent misspellings do for me, indicating a lack of care, and the sometimes intemperate tone and hints of paranoia, indicating questionable judgment. Possibly he has dyslexia, as a friend from my youth does. (Note, when composing posts, those red squiggles beneath a word indicate it failed spell-check. Those are useful to me, a former county level spelling champion. Typos happen.)
what the hell does finind a factor has to do with it being not prime. your assertion proved absolutly nothing.

A factor that is found is irrefutable proof that the number is not prime.
This is not conjecture, not heuristics, not hand waving. It is basic 4 grade math. It is undeniable, incontrovertible, rock solid, ironclad, bomb proof, etc.
If a number has a divisor other than itself or 1, it is not prime. Ipso facto, by definition, not prime.

So you want to eject Americans whose families have been here before the USA existed? Along with people that aren't even living in the same hemisphere. Logic is not your strong suit. Nor is politeness, tolerance, etc., etc., etc.

Thread closed.
The show is over, everyone go home.

Grrr... Because I am stupid ?? The intention was to be yyyymmdd, I always use the ISO 8601 standard time format, because it is easy to sort, etc. But with the job-stress around, I made a typo. The intention was not to be prime, and I expected a reply to say so, instead of asking "what values to put instead of x"

Edit: sorry to reply to a closed thread, didn't see it is closed Being supermod has advantages and disadvantages
