Right now, transfering an assignment to another computer is a relatively time-consuming process: the user must manual copy the save files to the target computer and edit its worktodo.txt file. This is frequently done by experienced users, but it can be confusing to newbies. Plus, things sometimes tend to go wrong.
Therefore, I am proposing a feature that will allow users to transfer assignments in a more streamlined manner. Basically, the user would enter the name of the computer to which the assignment is transferred. The server should confirm that a computer with such a name exists. Prime95 would then upload the save files to the PrimeNet server, and delete them after it verifies that the file was uploaded successfully. The target computer would then receive the assignment the next time it contacts PrimeNet. After confirming that the save files are correct, Prime95 would signal to the server that it is safe to remove them. However, there are two issues: 1) The target computer would have to be running a version of Prime95 that can automatically download save files. 2) The save files for LL tests are very large because they contain the interim residue. This could take up a lot of PrimeNet's resources, so there should be a limit on how many LL save files a user could store on the server. |

If this feature were to be added, what I would like to see added before, or at the same time is: the ability of a user or team to get (specific sorts) assignments for a computer that they are not sitting in front of. Say I have a dozen minions in the cellar that I have set up to do LMH-TF on. I would like to be able to tell the server to give them only assignments in a specific range. |

I just thought of another idea: add a feature that allows the user to load a save file directly.

Not sure how flexible you see the assignment sharing but I would be happy with the ability to only transfer assignments that are NOT yet started.
1. Specify from PC 2. Specify to PC 3. A list of assignments on PC1 is listed with a checkbox by each (or al ALL choice) is presented 4. Select and confirm PRESTO!!! And of course, I concur with UNCWILLY that both PCs must be owned by me. |

I just realized another potential problem: it's possible to use the same name for more than one computer, and a lot of users do this. This could potentially confuse the server.
I'm guessing that the first computer with the shared name that contacts the server should receive the assignment. |
