We were under the impression that having the team forums go public was assumed this time?

We have read all of the game, both sides, and we do not see anything that would be embarrassing or weird to read.

But, if there is an issue, let us know now!

FWIW, we followed this game closely and being able to see both sides "think" really taught us a lot!

I don't think exchanging queens was a problem, but I do think 16...c4 was a mistake. We concentrated on a lot of tactics when considering that move, but White's simple positional handling of the situation exposed our pawn on c4 as a weakness.

A noticeable mistake. Black lost two tempi because of the required knight moves (since a5 was not a good place for it) and helped White un-cramp his position, while trading off a potential major supporter of a (more careful) Q-side advance.

Yes, a large mistake. Black overextended on the Q-side (a theme that continued through the decisive blunder on move 28) and allowed W to strengthen his center.. One basic principle of counterplay is to respond to a wing attack with a center thrust. (Which side's threats are closer to the opponent's king?)

It does attack W's d3 weak square ... but B can't take much advantage because he doesn't have a way to get his knight there. A weak square that can't be taken advantage of is not so weak.

I must say, of all the things to be happening when I returned, I didn't expect game 2 to be one of them.

Really, I didn't didn't start following the chess until yesterday. It's terrific,
and I may continue to. My game isn't even near Gecko quality, and I
have to refresh my understanding of algebraic notation, and I must
use a board (my mental chess is weak). But this is a great way to
learn, watching you guys play and analyze, and I might join in in
a future game, time willing.

You were a captain from the start when the sea was still quite choppy. The occasional hurricane did come by after you passed the captaincy on, but everything stayed intact thanks in no small way to the tight ship you began.

(Of course, I'm not a pirate, nor even a captain, and our ship has always observed maritime law, so maybe I'm shooting my mouth off about what I can't know.)

Well, the thought processes from game 2 have only just been opened up for general viewing. I have dipped into the Pirates' area a bit, but I still need to read it properly. When game 3 starts the spectators will see only the moves, not the thought processes, unfortunately.
