Here's from the downtown area of Wytheville. The city is home to about 50,000 people, so there were a few places to go. After checking out this weird pencil we ate at a little sub restaurant and had Philly Cheesesteaks

We are currently driving to Florida to visit my grandfather. We’ll be visiting a few attractions so there’ll be some new pictures coming

Pictures tomorrow! We’re on our way back right now. We have tons of pictures from the aquariums, zoo, Busch Gardens, and the Chihuly Collection (blown glass artworks). Very neat stuff

Here's from ZooTampa, which had quite a few animals. My mom really liked one of their little meerkats, so we got some pictures of it.

Even though we got a lot of pictures from the zoo, there were actually more animals at the Busch Gardens amusement park; we spent more time there, and didn't even go on any of the rides! They even had closer interactions with the animals, and we got to see a simulated cheetah hunt. The trainers set up a machine that pulled a target on a string about 200 feet long, switching directions and all sorts of stuff. At each end was a sand pit to help the cheetah turn, so we got to see some crazy stuff. Unfortunately we don't have pictures because we thought the camera would get wet/damaged while we were near all of the rides, soooooo

The Chihuly Collection: This was a big place dedicated to blown-glass sculptures by Dave Chihuly. They have a workshop down the road, and you can watch them working. But that was only at certain times of the day, so we only got to see completed works.

In the background of the first picture to the left, you can see some buildings. Turns out there was an apartment complex, and right across the street was a Publix supermarket. On the same block was a bank, a bus stop, and an automated bike rental thingy, and right down the road was a big complex with restaurants and some museums (including the Chihuly Collection). Even though the cost of living is probably ridiculous (10 bucks for a loaf of bread at that Publix) I can see the allure of living in a city versus living out in the middle of nowhere, Arkansas

These were African penguins, and are the only penguins that live primarily in Africa. They're pretty common in zoos, I think because they don't require particularly cold weather (85 degrees out on the day we went, in the middle of Tampa, Florida).

A komodo dragon at the Tampa Zoo. Not really much else going on in this one.

More from the Chihuly Collection. A lot of these were taller than me! Not sure how they got neon into the third one...

Turns out bowls are pretty easy to make out of glass; here's a bunch!

Throughout Dave Chihuly's life he's underwent changes in how he viewed art and what he wanted to make. A lot of his earlier art was symmetrical and even-colored. But eventually he started messing with the colors, to give it a more "organic" look, and added asymmetrical variation with a pair of wood 2x4s while the glass was cooling. In the last picture you can see dark lines crisscrossing the bowls. That is glass of a different color, drizzled on after the bowl has cooled. Pretty neat

Cool! Next time you come to Europe, you could try the island of Murano where all the glass blowers of Venice work
(historically they weren't allowed to build their furnaces in Venice itself because of the fire risk).
You can take a tour and watch them make objects like these.

Ooh, that sounds nice. Venice alone is worth a trip though, wouldn't mind going back for more
