There have been more than 26^2 "mathematicians", ergo I didn't intend this thread to be a proposition from Wi. Er...Da? Last fiddled with by davieddy on 20110101 at 19:08

Hi
I've just revisited how to construct a square with
the same area as a given rectangle. Can anyone see how this might help cutting up a rectangular slice of cheese so that it fits a square biscuit of the same area? David

Hi
Yes: (I leave the reason to you). Meantime, suppose the rectangle was 5 by 1. David "Puzzles" might be a more appropriate place for this thread. Last fiddled with by davieddy on 20110102 at 13:15

Cheese and biscuits update

Taking 5 slices of cheese, I made 3 cuts and successfully tiled 4 biscuits with the resulting pieces. Only one or two of them fell on the floor during consumption! David. Last fiddled with by davieddy on 20110102 at 22:05
