GIMPS wiki account request thread

Due to abuse by spammers, account creation has been restricted on the wiki. However, those wishing to contribute may request an account here.

To have an account created for you, simply post your desired username and briefly explain the contributions you plan to make. It is recommend that you spend some time on the forum first if you are new to GIMPS. This makes it more likely that your request will be approved.

You will receive the password to the account via PM once it is created. Be sure to enable private messages in your [url=http://mersenneforum.org/usercp.php]user control panel[/url].

I have no interest in the forums. I just don't have the time and interest to have much chit-chat with people in online forums. However, I think my almost 10 years of contributing to the GIMPS project, nearly nine of those as primenet user S01822, is not newbie ground[1]. I'm sure that ixfd64 will ask appropriate questions and use a variety of factors to determine if I am someone who really wants to contribute to the wiki versus wanting to spam it. I will wait for he/she to follow up on my request and proceed from there.

A bit off-topic: I also have experience running MediaWiki and spamproofing it. You don't have to remove the ability for users to create new accounts. It's pretty easy to install some addons that prevent users from spamming your wiki. I went through this same issue with one of my own wikis. I'd be glad to help with advice and guidance there if the appropriate parties are interested.

You may be new to the forums, but you seem to have enough experience with GIMPS.

Unfortunately, the name "Matt" has already been taken, so you will need to choose another username.

May I please have a Wiki account? I want to participate in the Home Prime search and figure posting directly to the Wiki, kind of like manual sieving reservations in some prime searching projects, would be the best approach.
