Even a percentage of income is unduly heavy on low incomes. I am all for replacing traffic fines by community service.

I grew up at the base of Mt Baldy, used to ride my bike up to Baldy village from the base in high school.
By all means, go but go later in Spring.

If you intend a trip when snow is on the ground, my limited experience is that Icehouse canyon is both safe and well-traveled for the first few miles, but I would not go past the saddle during snowy / winter conditions. I've not tried any other trails up there before 1 April.

14 rescues this winter blows my mind. :-(

I've recently found out that Francis Brunn was born merely about 15 kilometers from where I live. For all I know it may be possible that ancestors of his were born in the village I live in (where the name Brunn can be traced back to at least the year 1687).
