Default A timeless moment....

It appears that in the apparent recent forum remodeling, a certain phantom user's profile became visible (at least for now)!

Have the snake and the ghosts of the gerbils finally decided to reveal themselves to us mere mortals?

More like a recent un-modeling.

The gerbils apparently edited the forum PHP files directly. (Note how Ernst's custom title no longer oscillates - There are hundreds of small tweaks that are gone.)

What you are supposed to do is edit the variables (phrases) that the PHP pages parse, not the raw pages!

So we accidentally reverted all the modified templates back to the stock templates.

What we are hoping to do Real Soon Now™ is upgrade the forum software to the next highest level. We are at 3.6.11 right now and 3.7.3 is the most current.

We would have switched earlier but we never trust initial releases.

Oh, I see! I had no idea that this was accidental--okay, maybe not no idea, since the thought that this might be a blooper had crossed my mind when I first noticed that the forum was looking admittedly generic.

As for Ernst's title oscillating--hmm, I'd never noticed that before! I'll be sure to look for that when you get it back.

One little request, though: when you do get all the special modifications back in place, could you please keep the little "Your PM box is x% full" counter in place? That would be really handy for project mods like me who exchange a lot of PM's and could definitely benefit from a more-visible warning of when their PM box is about to fill up.

Oh, and if you could leave the little thing that tells you how many people are viewing a certain subforum in place, that would be great, too. (Unless, of course, it's eating up too much server resources and has to go, in which case I understand. )

Thanks!

Max

P.S.: The "Currently Active Users Viewing This Thread" info is kinda neat too, though I guess that might eat up a bit too much resources to keep.

Useless info:

"Currently Active Users" indicates the number of unique registered members, cranks and terrorists who have logged in during the last 7 days.

You seem to have removed the "mouse over" messages for the menu options, though (e.g., "Prepare to be disappointed." for the search option).

Those were hard-coded into the PHP pages, devoid of any documentation indicating how they got there or how they interact with other parts of the system. We're not sure how to add those back in. A new incredibly useful "calendar" function was added, though, so maybe that makes up for the loss of the mouseover events?

Every time the forum software is upgraded, which happens 3-4 times a year, the installer barfs when it tries to write the new files on top of files that are not like they are supposed to be. We're not sure exactly how it works. If you knew how little we knew…

The calendar shows the month of January 2038, with a <> bracket around the 19th... Any particular reason?

The "Members List" thinks I am a spambot: It gives me "Nice try, spambot!"

I second that. The other menu items seem to work fine though.
