how can I test a number in any prime95? Linux command line.

For linux use mprime (available here)
It has the basic command line start there.

More details are in the readme.txt

My difficulty is the English language is the lack of practical examples in the readme.txt

I want to test the prime: 90529469 with MPrime and if possible two computers share this work together

For small numbers like that, use the `factor` command:

$ factor 90529469
90529469: 90529469
It's prime.

It looks like this exponent is already assigned to you since June 27.

Log into http://www.mersenne.org/workload/

Look for a line similar to:

Code:
Test=XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX,90529469,72,1
(here the "XXXX..." part will be numbers and letters)

If you are running mprime or Prime95, stop it.

Edit the file called worktodo.txt which is in the same directory as the mprime or Prime95 program.

Copy the "Test=" line into worktodo.txt

Restart mprime or Prime95. But if you are running an older version of the program, it's best to upgrade to version 28.9 (get it from http://www.mersenne.org/download/ ).



Two different computers can't work on the same exponent at the same time.

However if your computer has more than one CPU core, the latest version 28.9 of mprime or Prime95 will run faster by letting all the cores work together. You might want to create a new directory for version 28.9 so that the old settings in prime.txt and local.txt don't interfere.
