Default Lower Lip

Take your lower lip between your thumb and forefinger.

Pull it forward, then up and over your head.

That's what a kidney stone feels like.

I just got one.

That is supposed to be one of the most excruciating of afflictions. Having seen stones that looked like sizable grass burrs it is easy to understand why. I once had a few hours experience with what my doctor thought was a gall stone, and that was bad enough. It doubled me up when it hit.

You have my deepest sympathy, and wishes for speedy relief, Bob.

It sounds as if pain killers would have little effect against that, but I hope you find something which does ease the agony until this particularly nasty thing passes. All the best.

My sympathies; I can understand what you're going through and hope that the quacks can provide adequate pain relief.

We should compare experiences with TGN and, assuming there are any with the relevant background on this forum, childbirth. All are somewhat uncomfortable, or so I'm told. I've no personal experience of giving birth. I mean, I've nothing against children in the abstract, it's just that I can't bear them

Interestingly, this is somewhat like what women describe childbearing as being like.

Interestingly, they don't complain that much during the event (beyond the screaming), but complain about it all other times to make sure the men know their and that place.

Sorry... That was meant to be funny... 8-)

I prescribe liberal and repeated doses of C2H5OH.

Probably not what you had in mind in terms of the phrase "calculus whiz", Bob. May your passage, if not smooth, at least be reasonably expeditious.

My next door neighbor had a kidney stone a few years ago. I gave him about a cup of watermelon seed to make tea. The stone was gone in less than 24 hours.

Put 1/2 cup of crushed watermelon seed in a gallon of boiling water. Let it boil for 3 minutes, then cool and drink. Watermelon seed tea contains something that puts kidneys into overdrive. I have no idea what it is, but it is effective.

In the case of stones I think that might be more like a durian.

I would think the amount of water might increase GFR due to ADH, but I don't know all that much biochemistry even growing up with a kidney condition though I have learned some related to the condition I grew up with.
